Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's the first artist of female gender for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The first single, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released on Dreamville Records. She began to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded music online in 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography and her mixtape debut in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, including her self-released single Bound. The track Sweat it is included on Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to use it in conjunction with Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. The music video later released in September. Then on the 9th of November 2018 she dropped two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13 she then dropped two singles titled The No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song was followed by the music video which debuted in February 20th, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. In December of 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
